Toshiba Satellite Survives Major Crash
Over the last three years I have enjoyed working on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. Since I purchased it, I’ve created many websites and also written eBooks on it. Not once has it let me down. It has given me 100% satisfaction since the first day I unpacked it.
But, can you imagine how I felt when I heard the crash? Well, I was completely horrified. All my work, all my programs, my laptop, which I had grown so accustomed to - was that the end of my Toshiba Satellite laptop?
I have always loved my laptop for the freedom it gave me while working. You could often find me, with it, working in the kitchen, in the garden, sitting with it at an airport while waiting to board a flight, even in the car while enjoying the tranquillity of the sound of the waves by the seashore, writing articles.
But on the day of the crash I wanted to work and rest on my bed at the same time.
I had put the open laptop on the bedside table and plugged the extension into the back of the laptop. Then I took the plug end of the lead and put it into the wall socket on the opposite side of the bed. Next I decided that it would be best to put the cord behind the pillows, so gave the cord a tug, completely forgetting that it was attached to the laptop.
The crashing noise of the laptop falling fully opened onto the hard ceramic tiled floor (the usual flooring in a Spanish home) was unspeakable.
I rushed to the other side of the bed and was horrified, saddened, shocked and mortified, all at once, just seeing my Toshiba Satellite laptop lying fully opened, screen face down, on the hard floor.
Many thoughts flashed through my mind. Had I backed up the data recently? Yes, thankfully I had backed it up a few days before onto my portable harddrive.
Was I still insured? No, unfortunately the insurance had lapsed and I would have to rush out and buy another one as quickly as possible.
As these thoughts went through my mind, I picked up the laptop from the floor.
It felt stiff. The screen was loose. The frame around the screen had separated. The screen felt limp. My immediate thought was that it was completely wrecked.
With my thumb and index finger I squeezed the frame back into place. I gently eased the screen back to its original location and then moved the cursor on the screen. To my amazement, it worked!
My next step was to close down all the applications, which I had open and close the laptop completely to check the damage. It was then that I noted that it was stiffer to close but, nevertheless, it did close. After a few minutes I opened it again and logged on.
I could not believe it! It worked perfectly.
Would I buy a Toshiba Satellite laptop again? The answer has to be, absolutely, and without any hesitation whatsoever. All I can say is a big thank you to Toshiba for creating a fantastic product and one which survived such a major crash.
Tell me, have you ever suffered a major crash with your laptop or computer?

What a nightmare that must have been. You were so lucky. It has never happened to me but I do know someone who lost his hardrive when he dropped it.
Nice story
Good luck

Wow, so glad to hear that it still works. While I was reading I thought you were going to say that the screen broke and that the guts of the laptop were strewn about.
I have a Satellite also, never crashed it on the floor but unfortunately have suffered many OS crashes. That’s another story, though…

..Actually. xD I have a Toshiba Sattelite too, but I’m not so thrilled with mine. I stood up and went to grab the phone once, forgetting I had headphones on, and it slipped off the desk, the keyboard broke in half, the screen cracked, and it will not turn on anymore.
You sir, have a lucky.

My Macbook Pro recently fell out of my bag, and fell about 4.5 feet onto a concrete floor. I had forgotten to zip up the bag, who’s opening is on the side (it’s a messenger/backpack combo) as I was rushing to class, I got down a flight of stairs and was about to head out the front stairs out of the building, when I heard a loud crash and my backpack got much lighter. I turned around to see my poor laptop lying on the concrete floor. The corner is dented, and the lid doesn’t close as well, but I am thankful for the Apple ruggedness. I have no damage to the internal parts, even though it landed directly on the corner where the hard drive was. It was in sleep mode so that probably saved me some, but the corner of the top is dented, but the screen is fine. I’d buy another Macbook Pro again in a heartbeat.

I had a little blue Toshiba Satilette it was one of the models in the 2003-2004 years, I forget the specific model. ANYWAYS, I’m in a wheelchair myself and I had to work on my laptop from my bed because I didn’t have a wide enough table to put a laptop on at that moment. I had my comp on my bed, writing out a story for some work I had to do for school when all of a sudden I had the urge to goto the bathroom (too much soda) anyways I turn my chair too quickly, my tires wrap around my power cord of my laptop (didn’t know it had fallen) and I went forward. When I heard the crash of the laptop I was scared, all my school work lost I thought… but to my surprise when i picked up the laptop it was in perfect condition still, no dent, scratches or scrapes. The only thing affected was the power cord, it was bent because the laptop landed directly onto it but it still worked as well. All in all I loved that little laptop as much as a guy could love a inanimate object… I don’t own a laptop at the moment but if I did I would go directly to a Toshiba laptop once again.
